AI Avatar Video Cost Per Minute in 2026: $0.19 to $2.40 a Minute on HeyGen, Synthesia, Colossyan and D-ID, and 60 Finished Minutes a Month Costs a Training Team $29 to $219

AI avatar video cost per finished minute, read 12 October 2026: HeyGen Avatar III $0.19, Synthesia Pro $1.48, HeyGen Avatar IV $1.50, D-ID Pro $1.93, Colossyan Professional $1.97, HeyGen Avatar V $2.32 to $2.40

The short answer

For a training, sales enablement or marketing team buying an AI avatar platform, the useful number is what one finished minute of talking-head video costs. Dividing each plan’s price by the minutes its own vendor says it buys, billed monthly, a commercial minute on 12 October 2026 cost $0.19 on HeyGen‘s older Avatar III model up to $2.40 for its newest Avatar V on top-up credits. Most mainstream plans land between $1.48 and $1.96 a minute: Synthesia Pro $1.48, HeyGen Avatar IV $1.50, D-ID Pro $1.93, D-ID Advanced $1.96.

For a team producing 60 finished minutes a month, the monthly bill runs from $29 to $219, and the biggest swing is not the vendor but the avatar model you pick inside HeyGen. We read every price on the vendor’s own page that morning.

Colossyan Professional$59 (yearly)30 NEO + 10 NEO2monthly not shown$1.97
Our arithmetic on list prices read 12 October 2026, US dollars, before tax. Synthesia’s cost per minute counts paid credits only; its 10 free minutes are extra. Colossyan’s per-minute figure uses the 30 NEO minutes.

Every vendor bills a different unit

Synthesia sells credits at a fixed 100 credits per minute of video, and its page says the first 10 minutes are included on every plan. Starter is $19 for 1,250 credits a month (“up to ~12 min”), Pro $89 for 6,000 (“up to ~60 min”), both on top of the free allowance. Billed yearly, Starter drops to $14 a month and Pro to $59, which takes Pro under $1 a minute ($0.98).

HeyGen also sells credits, but the burn rate depends on the avatar model. Its help center lists 4 credits a minute for Avatar III on a video look, 16 for Avatar IV on a photo look, 31 for Avatar IV on a video look and 48 for Avatar V. So Creator’s 600 credits buy 150 minutes on Avatar III or 12.5 on Avatar V, a 12x spread on the same $29 plan. Custom Expressive Motion adds 40 credits a minute on Avatar IV, which takes a photo-look minute from $0.77 to $2.71.

D-ID prints minutes: 10 a month on Lite, 15 on Pro, 100 on Advanced, shared across videos, agents, video translation and the API. Colossyan also prints minutes, split by avatar engine: 30 a month on NEO and 10 on NEO2 for Professional.

What 60 finished minutes a month costs

A common brief for a small L&D or enablement team is a handful of training videos a month. We priced 60 finished minutes on the cheapest plan that covers them, billed monthly, commercial use, no watermark.

SetupMonthly billHow it covers 60 minutes
HeyGen Creator, Avatar III video look$29240 of 600 credits
Synthesia Pro$8960 paid minutes plus the 10 free, 70 in all
HeyGen Business, Avatar IV video look$1691,860 credits: 1,500 included plus 4 blocks of 100 at $5
D-ID Advanced$196100 minutes included
HeyGen Business, Avatar V$2192,880 credits: 1,500 plus 14 blocks at $5
Colossyan Professionalnot enough40 minutes a month; above that is an Enterprise quote
Our arithmetic on list prices read 12 October 2026. HeyGen Pro tiers between 1,000 and 100,000 credits are not printed, so Business is used for the larger credit counts.

Two notes. HeyGen Creator cannot buy one-time credits, per its help center, so once a team outgrows 600 credits the next step is a Pro tier or Business at $149, where extra credits cost $0.05 each and extra seats add no credits. And Synthesia’s 60 minutes fit Pro only because of the free allowance: Pro’s 60 paid minutes plus 10 free come to 70.

How we checked

On 12 October 2026 we opened each vendor’s pricing page and HeyGen’s help center credit pages in a rendered browser, clicked each monthly or yearly toggle by its own label, and saved the text of every state. Every number in this article is quoted from those saved pages, and a script fails the build if a quoted string is missing. Cost per minute is our arithmetic: plan price divided by the minutes the vendor states, or by credits divided by the vendor’s credits-per-minute rate. We did not sign up for any plan, so this is a price check, not a quality test of the avatars.
