The best voice quality on the market at a price that undercuts the field, held back by a credit system that makes real costs hard to predict before you commit.
ElevenLabs still leads on the thing that matters most in synthetic speech: the tail. Accents, breathing, the small hesitations that make a read sound like a person rather than an announcer. Cloning from a short sample remains noticeably better than the alternatives.
The friction is the credit meter. At roughly 330 credits per minute of speech, the $6 Starter tier buys about 90 minutes a month, and it is easy to burn a tier faster than you expect. Budget on minutes, not on the sticker price.
