Gemini Notebook is Google’s research notebook, and the first thing to know is that it was renamed: notebooklm.google now returns a permanent redirect to notebook.google, and the site’s own structured data calls the product Gemini Notebook. Most comparison articles still list it as NotebookLM.
You give it sources, PDFs, web pages, YouTube videos, audio files, Google Docs and Slides, and it answers questions about them with citations back to the exact passage. Audio Overview turns a source set into a two-host discussion. It is free with a Google account, and higher limits come through a Google One AI plan starting at $7.99 a month rather than a subscription of its own.
The reason it is filed outside the meeting-notes category is simple: it does not record meetings. There is no bot, no live transcription and no calendar hook. Upload a recording you made elsewhere and it will reason over it, which makes it a good companion to a note taker and a poor replacement for one.
